Spin Class -Lesson One

It didn’t take long for sweat to start beading on my forehead as I settled into spin class. The familiar setting triggered memories from my last session - my legs felt heavy, movements sluggish. Doubts crept in, questioning my progress despite all the hard work I've put in. As the class progressed, I consciously tried to quiet the negativity swirling in my mind. "Be present," I reminded myself. Gradually, my body synced with the rhythm, allowing me to relax into the workout. Glancing at the giant screen displaying cyclists' stats, I wrestled with the urge to compare and compete. Amidst this inner struggle, one particular number caught my eye. Bike 14 became a silent motivation that pushed me to better my own performance. With each glance at the clock and partner on the screen, my resolve increased.

As the class was winding down, and I scanned the room to acknowledge the anonymous individual who had kept me going on the bike, when a sudden realization struck me. My eyes flicked to the screen, searching for the assigned bike number, and in that moment of confusion, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was bike number 14!

The one silently nudging me to push harder, the one fueling my determination, and the one whooping for me to go further were reflections of my own inner strength and resilience. This unexpected epiphany left me pondering a valuable lesson: perhaps the greatest motivation doesn’t come from external sources; in reality, the most powerful force of motivation lies dormant within us. It's just waiting for us to acknowledge and harness it.

After all, within each of us lies a nameless badass waiting to be awakened and unleashed.
